Our Story
Born and raised in NZ, I’ve had several careers, and passions in my life. I travelled for 10 years in the UK and Europe. During this time starting a family and completed a BSc degree in Tourism and Cultural Anthropology.
With over 25 years’ experience in tourism and hospitality, I found myself in March 2020, looking into an uncertain future. The world had changed overnight with the arrival of Covid!
By chance an opportunity arose to support my local community in healthcare working with my friend and co-founder, Dr Taco Kistemaker.
I joined his team of Doctors and Nurses. We delivered outreach mobile healthcare to small rural communities in the far north of New Zealand providing health checks, and covid testing.
The whole experience was life changing. It reshaped my view of healthcare service. This led us both to think about tourism, and how it has changed.
We agreed that a bespoke medical travel support service for international visitors was the way forward, combining world-class healthcare, with tourism specialists who can guide, advise and medically support travellers to NZ would be a valuable service.
Travel Care NZ was born, easy one phone call, direct expert medical advice, bespoke online travel support service 24/7.
Over the years in my work, I’ve seen a fair share of the unexpected, with travel plans changing suddenly for one reason or another. This is where this medical travel support could have helped so many, in their time of need.
I am proud to be able to offer this great new service Travel Care NZ to international visitors.

The clean nature of New Zealand and the pristine ocean beauty was a major reason I settled down in New Zealand many years ago.
As a keen hunter, spearfisherman, dive instructor, medical doctor, and small aircraft pilot, I have travelled worldwide looking for the planet’s most beautiful places. I have worked in Africa, South America and Asia.
After arriving here in NZ, I realised New Zealand offers some of the best the world has to offer. I have since built a large health practice consisting of 5 clinics in the North of New Zealand and on a personal basis, I have provided medical services to clients at lodges in Northland.
When Covid19 hit New Zealand, I asked Michael Venner to join me to set up a service providing protection against this new virus to the most vulnerable people in the North. Together we have set up testing stations and outreach stations providing safe and precise healthcare to rural communities.
We, TravelCare NZ, want to give you the best possible experience there is by providing you with medical advice, planning and care that you and your group might need, 24 hours a day, for as long as you are here.
